Nelson Sanders Porter

Nelson Sanders Porter, aged 79 of Logan, Ohio, formerly of Columbus, Ohio, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

Born September 17, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Patrick H. and Eassie Bea (Riley) Porter.

Nelson worked for the City of Columbus Water Division for 32 years as a pipe finder. He had previously served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. An outdoorsman, Nelson enjoyed fishing and camping. He was also a skilled craftsman with a love for woodworking, painting, and drawing. He will be greatly missed by those that knew him.

Nelson is survived by his sons, Nelson K. Porter, Joseph N. Porter, Anthony T. Colegrove, and Ulysses J. Colegrove; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, Nelson was preceded in death by Betty L. Porter and Laura E. Colegrove.

Per Nelson’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.
